The First Note

The ACSM is a music school based in Lisdoonvarna Co. Clare. It opened its doors in January 2019 and has had great interest and demand.
Tenor Peter O’Donohue has had a long-term ambition to create a platform where music of all genres could be accessed in north Clare. The talent found by teacher Archie Simpson was just the tip of the iceberg. Peter wants to continue the exploration that Archie started and develop the platform into as many genres as possible.
The ACSM is a School for all instruments, levels and all genres. Lessons are tailored to the individual student. We believe that music should be loved, respected and guided, but never forced.
At the ACSM we have developed an in house award system. Much like the martial arts system, we award coloured wristbands for improvements in the student’s own instrument. While we also encourage exams, this system of improvement is not exam based and is down to the teacher to monitor the student’s improvement. This has proved a very successful system for encouraging students to excel.

We are now opening our doors to students from around the globe. The ACSM is now offering online lessons from our talented Irish teachers.

Anam Cara School of Music is named after (Peter's uncle) John O’Donohue’s bestseller book ‘Anam Cara’.
